Nature article reflects excitement surrounding detector advances
An article in January's online edition of Nature higlights the research conducted in the lab of Assistant Professor Ben Mazin. Results from an array of microwave kinetic inductance detectors (MKIDs) that were installed on a 5.1-metre telescope at Palomar were presented at the American Astronomical Society meeting by Seth Meeker. Mazin's MKIDs have generated excitement among astrophysicists; one observatory director called them "the dream detector we've all been waiting for."
