Physics Post Doc Matthew Citron has been awarded for his project, “A new detector for millicharged particles at the LHC.”

Funded through a generous gift from international business leader and entrepreneur Harvey Karp, the Harvey L. Karp Discovery Award is intended to provide seed funding to the most exceptional young postdocs at UC Santa Barbara early in their careers and support their innovative research.

The Karp Discovery Award will provide support to one outstanding postdoc annually to enable cutting-edge research, research that might be considered too risky by agencies such as the NIH, launch promising projects and nurture the careers of gifted young investigators. The award is intended to be highly competitive, bestowing upon the recipient a significant measure of independence. Domestic and international postdocs may apply.
