- Physics Circus
Join us on Zoom Friday 10/9 at 1PM (with your lunch) for our first Physics Circus meeting of the year! The Physics Circus is a program to promote science education in local K-12 schools. A group of enthusiastic UCSB Physics Department graduate students, undergraduate students, and faculty take a collection of demonstration experiments to local schools and present an action-packed learning experience. And in 2020 we are going online! We are creating a library of demonstration videos and instructional material for at-home experiments in order to supplement local schools’ remote learning programs in the physical sciences. As a UCSB Physics student (undergraduate or graduate) you can contribute to our online content from wherever you are! This is a great outreach opportunity to express your enthusiasm for physics and reach kids of every age at schools in the Santa Barbara area. At our info session we’ll present more on how you can contribute this year, and get your ideas for fun learning activities kids can do from home.If you are interested in registering for Physics 260J for one unit of course credit, we will have more information and registration forms at the meeting. If you are interested in the Physics Circus but unable to attend the meeting, kindly fill out our volunteer form. Please also email me (and cc Jean Carlson — firstname.lastname@example.org) and we will make sure you’re on our email list.
