Tamas Vami

Biography

Tamas Vami, who joined the CMS Collaboration as a high school student through a Hungarian talent program at the Wigner RCP in Budapest, earned his BSc/MSc degrees from Eotvos Lorand University. His BSc thesis involved the CMS Pixel Phase-1 Upgrade Pilot Modules, while his MSc studies focused on a Supersymmetry search with Razor variables. He obtained his Physics PhD from Johns Hopkins University, concentrating on Heavy Stable Charged Particle searches with the CMS detector at the LHC.

Research

At CERN, Tamas led several international research groups; overseeing calibration, local reconstruction, and simulation of the pixel detector, then he supervised the alignment and calibration of the entire CMS detector for reliable physics performance. Since joining UCSB, he took charge of the Monte Carlo and Interpretation division in the Exotica Beyond Standard Model group at CMS. Additionally, Dr Vami contributes to the LDMX collaboration, investigating light dark matter at SLAC.
